Guernsey
Lou, Dexter (cutest and most well behaved kid in the world) and Will. They were in London for barely 3 days and managed to squeeze in a coffee or 3 with us. Best coffee in London!!! Finally!!! (Flat White cafe in Soho for those of you playing at home)
Regents Canal, London. Lots of Longboats. We ride along this on our way to Camden.
Peg looking particularly sporty next to Camden Lock. Right in the middle of Camden markets. We earned our beers and goat curry. There is much dodging of punks here. We didn't have enough piercings to fit in.
Crazy boat with a crazy windmill for propulsion in St. Peter Port, Guernsey. Apparently this guy doesn't win many races.
Us shopping for our uber-yacht.
Peg in front of the Guernsey Lock. Not as freaky as Camden. Fair share of freaks, but more in-bred, less punk.
One of the beaches on Herm, one of the Channel Islands. No cars allowed here. Beautiful place. If you can believe it (we can't!), this is still technically the UK. Even though it's closer to France, the UK "own" it. We even got sunburnt. LOVED it!!!
Icy cold water, but it's been a while since our feet have felt anything but shoes.
Drew is LOVING the sunshine!
Same beach on Herm.
Peg's not so sure of the temperature of the water. We didn't bring/need swimwear. Swimming wasn't an option.
Peg somehow developed an even suntan... ..."even" with the V-neck and capped sleeves.
Showing off that there is blue sky in the "UK".
Topless bathing...
Brother and sister together again.
Fire twirling Camille style.
Fire twirling Drew style. Significantly less style...
The main man, Camille's boyfriend Ken. Best house on Guernsey. Barbecue cooker extraordinare. We do love our bbqs.
Believe it or not, Drew has to get up tomorrow at 4am to do a walk with Camille for charity.
Ken stoking up the chiminea.
Yes, another hour another beer... or 4.
Camille, too, has to get up at 4am.
Celebrating the ever-diminishing volume of sleep each shall be enjoying.
But isn't it worth getting up for? Respective partners Ken and Pauline are still sound asleep, missing all this!!! Surprisingly, they weren't in the slightest bit concerned! In their sexy Itex shirts upon completion of our race. They had finished long before everyone else... Because they dropped out before halfway, as planned.
As always, when they get together, they try to hurt each other. This time, drowning the other was the mission. Off Sark, another Channel Island.
Lunch in the bay at Sark. For the dads- yacht was 35 feet long, we were in 2.3m of water, wind was 2 knots, tide was rising, we had 10m of anchor chain out... it's midnight, and we're wearing sunglasses.
The neck seperating Sark from "Little Sark". There are lots of bikes here, however you have to get off your bike to ride across this bit. Apparently the handrail is a recent addition.
The 3 stooges... Peg insists that Drew is Curly.
Looking down towards the bay from the road on Sark. Since when did Sailing involve walking up steps???!!! The yacht we sailed in on is on the far left.
Looking towards France from Sark.
Looking towards England from Sark!
On the harbour wall of St. Peter Port, Guernsey
The "Little Chapel". Built by a guy way back when, and top-to-toe with Mosaic. Very strange. yet amazing.
Close-up of one of the ceilings.
More mosaic.
Little Chapel from the outside. I reckon give me an arvo and a few thousand pieces of Lego and I'll have a crack at it...
What better way to end our visit than with a wrestling match.
The day after we got back we went and saw Pete Murray. Funnily enough, pretty much the entire audience (At Shepherd's Bush Empire) were from the same country as him!!! It was Uber. Nothing like a dose of home when you're so far away. Shepherd's Bush is really "Little Australia" and is where you go for Australia Day, Missy Higgins and State of Origin games.
